Salt-Resistant Casters

Salt-Resistant Casters
Details:
1. Materials: Nylon, PP, PU, etc.
2. Features: Excellent overall corrosion resistance, non-absorbent, and quiet operation; suitable for environments with heavy salt spray or chemical exposure.
3. Bearings: Sealed bearings prevent salt spray from entering and causing bearing seizure.
4. Load Capacity: Larger wheel diameters provide higher load capacities (e.g., a 50 mm wheel supports approximately 60 kg, while a 125 mm wheel supports up to 600 kg).

Our salt-resistant casters are industrial casters specifically designed to withstand saltwater, salt spray, and saline corrosive environments. Their outstanding performance is achieved through carefully selected materials and advanced sealing designs. They effectively prevent rust, seizure, and performance degradation caused by salt corrosion and are widely used in food processing, aquatic cold-chain logistics, shipbuilding, medical cleaning equipment, and coastal outdoor applications.‌‌

Key Elements of Salt-Resistant Design

1. Materials

  • Specialty Plastics & Protective Coatings: Wheel cores or complete wheels are manufactured from inherently corrosion-resistant polymers such as Nylon, Polypropylene (PP), and Polyurethane (PU). Metal components undergo anti-corrosion surface treatments such as galvanizing or chrome plating.

2. Design

  • Precision Bearings & Sealing: Stainless steel ball bearings equipped with multiple sealing systems (such as rubber seals and rotary seals) effectively prevent saltwater intrusion and internal corrosion.
  • Bearing-Free Design: For extremely corrosive environments, such as applications involving frequent high-pressure washing, bearing-free designs completely eliminate the risk of bearing seizure.
  • Drainage Structure: Some premium models incorporate drainage channels to prevent liquid accumulation.

State-of-the-Art Production Facility

We operate a modern 6,000-square-meter production facility equipped with advanced automated manufacturing equipment and a professional R&D team. The facility includes dedicated areas for raw material processing, component manufacturing, product assembly, and quality inspection, forming a complete production value chain.

Every stage-from steel procurement and processing to caster assembly and testing-is subject to strict quality control. Automated equipment ensures high product precision and consistency while significantly improving production efficiency. Meanwhile, our experienced R&D team continuously drives technological innovation and product optimization, enabling the rapid development of customized industrial steel casters to meet specific customer requirements.

For example, we can complete the design and prototype production of custom industrial steel casters within four weeks to meet urgent project deadlines.

Rigorous Quality Control System

Quality is the core competitiveness of our company. We have established a comprehensive quality control system that covers the entire process, from raw material inspection to finished product delivery.

During raw material procurement, every batch of steel undergoes rigorous chemical composition analysis and mechanical property testing to ensure compliance with high-quality standards.

Throughout the production process, high-precision testing equipment monitors every manufacturing stage in real time. For example, hardness testers verify the hardness of caster components, while dynamic balancing machines evaluate wheel balance, ensuring consistent product quality.

Before shipment, every finished product undergoes multiple rigorous quality inspections, including load capacity testing and wear resistance testing.‌

Application Scenarios

1. Food Processing and Catering
In food processing facilities (especially meat and seafood processing plants) and commercial kitchens, floors are frequently cleaned with high-pressure hot water and chlorine-based disinfectants. Under these conditions, conventional casters quickly rust and seize.

2. Seafood Processing and Cold-Chain Logistics
Throughout seafood processing, quick-freezing, refrigerated storage, and transportation, equipment operates in cold, humid, and saline environments. Standard metal casters are highly susceptible to corrosion, while conventional plastic wheels may become brittle at low temperatures.

3. Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering
On docks, in shipyards, and on offshore platforms and ship decks, equipment is continuously exposed to highly saline and humid marine air (salt spray), resulting in rapid corrosion.

4. Medical and Laboratory Cleaning and Disinfection
In hospital central sterile supply departments, surgical instrument processing areas, and laboratories, equipment is routinely moved into high-temperature, high-pressure steam sterilizers or chemical disinfection tanks.

5. Coastal Outdoor Areas and Specialized Industrial Facilities
Applications include seaside hotels, outdoor playgrounds, chemical plants, and electroplating workshops, where equipment is continuously exposed to saline sea breezes, salt spray, or corrosive industrial chemicals.

Material Characteristics

Polyurethane: Provides excellent overall performance, including superior wear resistance, good elasticity, and effective floor protection. However, standard polyurethane has limited long-term resistance to hydrolysis and may swell or delaminate in hot, humid, and saline environments. Hydrolysis-resistant polyurethane formulations are recommended for salt-exposure applications.

Nylon: Offers high strength, excellent wear resistance, and inherent resistance to saltwater and many chemical corrosives. However, it may become brittle at very low temperatures (such as in cold storage) and generally produces slightly more operating noise. It is widely used in the aquaculture and chemical industries.

Polypropylene: One of the most chemically resistant plastics, polypropylene absorbs almost no moisture, making it ideal for humid and chemically aggressive environments. However, it has relatively poor low-temperature impact resistance, and its load capacity is generally lower than that of nylon.

Rubber (Nitrile, EPDM): Provides excellent elasticity and quiet operation. Rubber formulation is critical; EPDM generally offers better resistance to water, ozone, and chemicals than standard natural rubber, making it more suitable for humid and outdoor environments.
